President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said his administration is a direct continuation of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari’s government, describing Buhari as a partner in governance.
He made the remarks on Thursday while speaking to the national, zonal, and state leaders of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA) at the State House in Abuja.
Tinubu said he effectively succeeded himself, stressing that there is no clear break between both administrations.
“The truth is I took over from myself. The late Buhari is me; he was a partner. If I took over from him, is that not from myself?”
He admitted that the country is facing difficulties and called on Nigerians, including members of the RHA, to stay patient and fully support ongoing reforms.
“If something is wrong, fine live with it, correct it, move on. It’s not going to be easy,”
The President assured his supporters that the sacrifices being made now would lead to better outcomes, and he expressed strong confidence in his leadership and direction.
“So many of you that are travelling with me, I can stand before you, you will not regret it,”
He also made it clear that he would not be distracted or pressured by opposition parties as the 2027 presidential election draws closer.
“They want to scare me off. It’s a lie. I’ve been through this path before, and if I have to come back over and over again, I’ll do the same thing.”
