At least seven people lost their lives after armed attackers stormed Channel One, a border community in Ukemberagya/Tswarev Council Ward of Logo Local Government Area in Benue State.

Residents said several others were badly hurt during what they described as a well-planned assault that happened in the early hours of Sunday.

Witnesses explained that the gunmen rode into the village around 1am on motorcycles, carrying dangerous weapons. They began shooting at residents, throwing the quiet rural community into chaos as frightened villagers ran in different directions to save themselves.

A community leader in Logo, Chief Joseph Anawah, identified those killed as Akor Gwakyaa, Msooter Gwakyaa, Aondoungwa Michael, Vershima Michael, Terna Michael, Msughter Terzungwe, and another victim whose name has not yet been confirmed.

Anawah also disclosed that many others suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospitals in Anyiin for treatment. He added that at least seven victims in very critical condition were later moved to Ugba, the headquarters of Logo Local Government Area, to receive urgent medical care.

Chairman of Logo Local Government Area, Clement Kav, also confirmed the deadly incident while speaking with journalists in Makurdi. He said, “They killed seven persons and injured four others.”
