Popular socialite and nightlife entrepreneur Pascal Okechukwu, better known as Cubana Chief Priest, has officially declared his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.
He shared the news on Instagram, revealing that he will run under the All Progressives Congress (APC) banner, a move he described as both calculated and strategically sound.
Cubana Chief Priest explained that joining the ruling party provides a stronger route to influence federal power, especially in advocating for the release of the detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Addressing why he remains with the APC despite strong opposition support in parts of the South-East, he argued that working from outside government limits one’s ability to drive change at the top.
“I no fit help Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from opposition. I have always been an APC. My father, Governor Hope, has worked hard on APC for me not to support him as DG renewed hope,” he said.
He also clarified his political position during the 2023 elections, when he publicly backed Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.
Explaining his past support, he said his involvement in the Obidient movement happened while serving as a Special Adviser to Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma.
However, he emphasized that his political loyalty has now shifted firmly back to the centre, expressing full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC leadership.

“Last election, as special adviser to Governor Hope, I worked for Peter Obi, but this time I dey with Asiwaju,” he stated.
Cubana Chief Priest described his 2027 bid as a deliberate move from online influence to active political engagement.
He stressed that the South-East needs younger, influential figures within the system to effectively promote the region’s interests at the federal level.
