Al Jazeera Must Apologize or Face Legal Action – Bwala

Daniel Bwala, spokesperson on policy communication for Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has accused Al Jazeera of editing his interview on the programme Head to Head, hosted by Mehdi Hasan, in a selective way. He said the edits created a misleading narrative that later attracted heavy criticism online.

Bwala explained that the interview, recorded on February 11, 2026, lasted about one hour and twenty minutes. However, the version released on March 5 was shortened to 49 minutes, with nearly 20 minutes removed. He also claimed that another condensed version lasting about eight minutes was later produced, mixing different parts of the interview in a way that highlighted some points while leaving out key context.

He said the network had earlier assured him that the full interview would be aired on television before being uploaded online. According to him, the broadcaster later said it could not air it due to breaking events involving Israel, Iran and the United States.

Responding to the criticism on social media, Bwala said he answered every question during the interview and did not deny any of the issues raised. Still, he said he now regrets accepting the invitation because he expected the discussion to focus on government policies, not his personal political history.

He added that he has formally written to Al Jazeera demanding a public apology. Bwala also warned that if the network fails to apologise, the issue could be taken to a court in England. He maintained that releasing the full interview is necessary so the public can understand the proper context.
