The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd), has been named to the 73-member Central Coordination Committee for the 2026 National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking his official entry into the party.
Musa, who served as Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff until October 2025, is listed as number 71 on the committee, which was constituted on Monday by the APC’s National Working Committee ahead of the convention.
He had revealed in an interview he was considering joining the APC.
When asked if he was already a party member, Musa said: “Not yet. But I think I will be, definitely. The APC has given me the platform to present myself right from when I was CDS till date, so why not? Mr President needs all the support. I will give him all my support, including moving forward to a second term.”
The APC appointed Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma, as chairman of the central coordination committee. Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, was named vice chairman, while Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, was appointed secretary.
The committee includes serving and former governors, senators, members of the National Assembly, and other party leaders nationwide. Notable members include Senate President Godswill Akpabio; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; and former APC national chairmen Adams Oshiomhole, Abdullahi Adamu, and Abdullahi Ganduje.
