South African singer Tyla has taken home the Best African Music Performance award at the 2026 Grammy Awards, beating Nigerian stars Burna Boy, Davido, and Ayra Starr in the category.
She won the award with her track Push 2 Start, beating Burna Boy’s Love, Davido’s With You featuring Omah Lay, Ayra Starr and Wizkid’s Gimme Dat, along with Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin’s Hope & Love.
The award category, created to showcase African music on the international stage, once again highlighted Nigeria’s strong presence, with three Nigerian artists — Burna Boy, Davido, and Ayra Starr — making the final list of nominees.
This victory makes Tyla a two-time winner in the category since it was first introduced in 2024, when she claimed the inaugural award with her song Water.
