Content creator and philanthropist Mitchell Mukoro, popularly known as King Mitchy, has issued a public apology for her recent actions online, including an incident where she consumed a substance during a live broadcast.
In a video posted on her Instagram page on Thursday, King Mitchy addressed the public and specific individuals, apologising to Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu; activist Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM); and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
“I’m ready to be held accountable for my actions. For some days I’ve thought about my behaviour and I know that I was wrong and I want to be held accountable,” she said.
King Mitchy admitted her mistake over the substance she took on live video. “For the substance I took on live video, that was very wrong of me because there are young girls that are looking up to be me one day and I know I disappointed a lot of people. That was wrong of me, I was wrong.”
Regarding Seyi Tinubu, she said: “And my boss ST (Seyi Tinubu), I’m so sorry. I know I apologised privately but I did not disrespect you privately, I disrespected you publicly so I want to apologise publicly. I’m so sorry sir.
“I want you to know that I will never take your support for granted.”
While kneeling in the video, King Mitchy also apologised to Oba Ogunwusi. “I’m so sorry, sir. I’m so sorry for bringing your name into this, I’m so sorry, Daddy,” she said.
She further extended an apology to VeryDarkMan, calling him her “brother” and recognising his advocacy. “You’re fighting for Nigerians and we can make Nigeria a better place and I’m sorry for coming at you like that,” she said.
“Maybe now I understand you better because I had to step back and understand the kind of person that you are and I see that you’re fighting for a good cause for Nigeria to be better.
“And you need more supporters, not people to fight you. I’m sorry, my brother. Thank you, Nigerians.”
The apology follows weeks of controversy that started in late February, when King Mitchy said she had renovated a dilapidated school within six days, claiming that real change could happen fast with genuine effort.
Her comment was widely seen as a subtle jab at VeryDarkMan, who responded by accusing her of being used to polish the image of President Tinubu’s administration.
The matter escalated after King Mitchy shared what she described as a private conversation with Oba Ogunwusi, claiming “even this king” had reached out to her. Her statement sparked heated debate online, with critics accusing her of disrespecting the monarch.
Tensions grew further when VeryDarkMan alleged that Seyi Tinubu was sponsoring King Mitchy’s charitable projects.
The content creator later revealed that the backlash had caused her to lose her business Instagram account.
The controversy took a worrying turn during a live video, in which a visibly distressed King Mitchy was seen consuming a substance believed to be bleach, while viewers tried to intervene.
Her management initially announced her death in an Instagram post, claiming she had died at Prime Care Hospital in Abuja after medical staff failed to revive her.
The statement was later withdrawn, with her management clarifying that King Mitchy was alive and recovering. Prime Care Hospital had also denied that she had been admitted or died at the facility.
Earlier, Seyi Tinubu released a statement rejecting any claims that he was involved in the dispute between King Mitchy and VeryDarkMan.
