Fresh fear has taken over Ira, Inaja, and Aho communities in Oyun Local Government Area, Kwara State, after a threatening letter was reportedly dropped at Ira market, warning of a possible terrorist attack.
The letter, said to have been discovered on Thursday morning, has left residents panicked. Security agencies reportedly held urgent meetings with local government officials soon after the discovery.
Sources familiar with the situation said the letter was signed by a group calling themselves “NTA (Nigeria Terrorist Association)” and claimed they had moved from Kaiama Local Government Area to Oyun. The group reportedly declared their plan to attack the communities “anytime soon.”
Residents told SaharaReporters that the threat has unsettled the entire area, especially after the recent massacre in Woro community, Kaiama, where at least 162 people were killed by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.
The letter seen by sources partly read: “No Town, or place That is scared us to destroyed. We search and gathered information before we raided.”
It also mocked the locals: “We heard about this town IRA ‘You people strong, and have many Powerful men to face Our Organisation.’”
The letter added a chilling warning: “Be ready for us at any time, any date. noting Concern about your Oracle or us powerful We left Kaiama LG, we move to Ira, Inaja and Aho and town surrounded.”

Ira is a border town next to Ilemona, while Inaja and Aho lie west along the same route. The area is seen as vulnerable because forest paths connect parts of Kwara to neighbouring states.
