VIDEO: Group of Men Gang-Rape Women in Delta State, Call It ‘Raping Festival’

Online outrage has erupted over a disturbing festival reportedly taking place in Ozoro, Isoko North LGA, Delta State, where women are being harassed, molested, and gang-raped under the guise of tradition.

Multiple social media users described the events as “heartbreaking” and “disgusting,” condemning the acts and questioning how any culture could justify sexual violence. Videos circulating online show women being chased, groped, and assaulted during the festival rites, prompting widespread condemnation.

Several commenters highlighted the risk to female students at Southern Delta University in Ozoro, saying many are panicking as the festival continues and more males allegedly plan to harass women, even targeting hostels. “Some of the female students that traveled before the festival started are lucky if not they would have been among those raped,” one witness wrote.

Social media users have stressed that culture cannot override the rights and safety of women. They argue that any tradition permitting sexual assault is unlawful and incompatible with Nigerian law. Calls for immediate police intervention and government action have intensified, with citizens demanding that all perpetrators be arrested and held accountable.

Delta State authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the alleged festival and the incidents reported, as public pressure mounts for urgent action to protect women and uphold the law.
