Seyi Tinubu, son of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is making headlines after his wife gave freezers and sewing machines to Igbo women, showing a different approach from the federal government’s rice-centered palliative programmes.

Critics often describe the federal administration as a “government of rice sharing,” pointing to the Tinubu Support Group’s nationwide palliative initiatives that hand out rice, beans, garri, and other basic items to vulnerable households in several states, rather than addressing the underlying causes of economic hardship.

Political analyst Mallam Jabir mocked the government’s method, saying, “the solution to every crisis in Nigeria, be it banditry, kidnappings, floods, and unemployment, is rice sharing.”

While Seyi Tinubu reportedly followed his father’s path by giving out rice, a video shared on X by @Villageparrot shows his wife taking a different route. In the clip, she is seen distributing freezers and sewing machines to women in her community.

Reacting to the video, @Villageparrot wrote: “Seyi Tinubu gave his own people rice. E reach him wife, Igbo woman turn, he gave them freezers and sewing machines. Love is sweet.”

Her gesture has sparked wide conversation online, with many Nigerians applauding her for giving practical tools that help women earn a living, in sharp contrast to the federal government’s rice-focused relief efforts.

While some sees it as a special way of buying the Igbo region ahead of 2027 election.
