Dino Melaye, the former Senator representing Kogi West, has described ex-Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi as a fantastic person but said he is not fit to be Nigeria’s president at this time.
Speaking on Channels Television on Thursday, Melaye said Obi does not have the capacity to bring Nigerians together.
Obi has made it clear that he plans to run for president in 2027.
“But let me even tell you, Peter Obi is a fantastic Nigerian. I have tremendous respect for him, and I’ve said it before, he is a fantastic person, but this is not his time to be President,” Melaye said.
After leaving the National Assembly, Melaye contested the Kogi State governorship election on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform but lost to the sitting governor, Ahmed Ododo.
