God-Fearing Christian Petty Trader Returns N1m Found in Purchased Goods to Muslim Owner

A Christian woman, Madam Serah Luca, shocked everyone at Terminus Market in Jos, Plateau State, by returning N1 million she accidentally got while buying goods from a Muslim trader.

Madam Luca, a small-scale trader from Laminga Road, said she handed back the money because of her fear of God. She explained she just couldn’t keep or spend money that didn’t belong to her.

She told reporters she bought the items on Friday and only discovered the cash hidden inside after getting home. “My faith won’t allow me to keep what I didn’t work for,” she said.

“I am a petty businesswoman. I know what it means to suffer loss. If I put that kind of money into my business, I believe God would punish me,” Madam Luca added.

The trader, Abubakar Dola, praised her honesty after she returned the cash. He described her as a God-fearing woman and said he was stunned by her act.

“I am surprised to see her returning the money, because I didn’t know where I kept it. I am into polythene bag business here at Terminus,” he said.

Abubakar explained, “She came and purchased goods worth six thousand naira on Friday. I had one million naira in a polythene bag which I was supposed to give to a POS operator for transfer, and I mistakenly put the money inside the polythene bag she bought. I didn’t know the money was inside. Three days later, the woman returned the money to me. I pray Allah rewards her with more than what she did for me. I pray Allah gives us more people of her kind and who fear Allah.”

He continued, “I thank Allah for what she did for me. It’s not easy to find people of her character. I had completely given up because I didn’t know how the money got lost. I didn’t even think I put the money in someone’s goods.”
