‘Two Weeks After… It Will Stop’ — Akpabio Gives Date Killings, Kidnappings Will End

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has blamed the recent rise in insecurity across the country on the approaching elections, insisting the situation will calm down once voting is over.

Akpabio spoke on Tuesday in Abuja during the official launch of the Nigerian Revenue Service Corporate Headquarters. At the event, he praised Bola Tinubu, saying the President is doing very well in office, and claimed that those who oppose him have turned to backing insecurity because they have run out of options.

He maintained that once elections are concluded, the security situation will quickly improve and fade away.

He said, “Insecurity is increasing because election is coming, because people don’t know what to do again. Immediately after election, two weeks after election, the insecurity will stop. The insecurity is being sponsored by people.”

Taking a swipe at the opposition, Akpabio mocked what he described as confusion within their ranks. He also threw a jab at Peter Obi, who ran under the Labour Party Nigeria in the 2023 presidential race.

According to him, “Opposition is in disarray, someone got six million votes and abandoned the party, abandoned the six million votes and went shopping for another platform and they are blaming the ruling party.”

Akpabio also used the moment to call for patience from Nigerians, urging citizens to give the current government more time as it continues its work.

He added, “Let Nigerians be patient with you, you are doing the right thing.”
