Nigerian singer and songwriter Omah Lay has sparked fresh debate in the music scene after boldly declaring himself the greatest Afrobeats act of the decade.
In a recent chat with Capital XTRA, the singer spoke with strong confidence about his career and what he believes sets him apart in the industry. He made it clear that, in his view, his work goes beyond just making songs.
According to him, music is not just entertainment but art, and that is where he feels he stands above others.
“I am the greatest Afrobeats artist of the decade, I am the greatest. Well, you can say that numbers and personality or the level of fame, then maybe you will not consider me. But when you come to making art, I’m the greatest,” he added.
His statement has since stirred reactions, with fans and critics weighing in on social media, as many debate whether his bold claim matches his current standing in the Afrobeats industry.
