A disturbing video from Delta State has gone viral online, showing a woman being attacked during a cultural festival.
The incident is believed to have happened during the Urheovware, an Urhobo Cultural Festival held in Edjeba, Warri South.
In the clip, the woman is seen lying on the ground close to an open drainage channel. She is heard screaming as a masquerade, dressed in a red-and-yellow costume, repeatedly hits her with a cane-like object. She is barefoot, clearly in pain, and tries to protect herself while crawling away from the attack.
Even as she struggles to escape, the masquerade continues the assault while people around watch. The video later shows the woman sitting on the edge of the drainage, crying in pain as the masquerade walks away from the scene.
The video has since triggered immediate outrage online, with many users expressing shock, anger, and strong criticism over what happened.
