PHOTOS: Kano Govt Gets Dragged For Sharing Branded Panties for Women

The Kano State Government is facing heavy backlash after distributing branded underwear to women in the state as part of a public campaign.

Photos and posts shared on social media showed the undergarments carrying the governor’s picture, which quickly triggered mixed reactions across Facebook and X (formerly Twitter). Many users questioned the motive behind the gesture, calling it “embarrassing” and “unnecessary.”

One social media user wrote: ‘Madness and they accepted. A man that bought underwear for you will one day request to see how the underwear looks on you’

Another person commented: ‘So people’s wives will wear pants with a politicians image engraved’

The controversy has since grown online, with heated debates about dignity, priorities, and government spending priorities in Kano State.

So far, officials have not issued a detailed explanation beyond confirming that the programme is part of a wider campaign effort.
