A viral video showed people believed to be APC supporters and workers at the Ministry of Finance reacting very dramatically to the removal of Wale Edun as Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.
In the clips circulating on social media, the people were seen staging what looked like a mock obituary for the former minister. In one video, a condolence register was opened, while others were seen behaving as if they were marking his “political death” after his exit from office.
The videos have triggered strong reactions from Nigerians online, with many describing the act as disturbing, disrespectful, and unnecessary, especially given that Wale Edun is still alive.
Some users questioned how such actions would affect his family, while others said the display shows how tense and emotional political issues have become in the country.
A few also warned that if party members, particularly those in the ruling party, can publicly ridicule one of their own, it raises bigger concerns about the progress of the country.
