How Ex-OGTV Broadcaster Kitan Oyesiku’s Former Security Guard Planned Her Murder – Police

Police in Ogun State have paraded three suspects over the murder of former OGTV broadcaster Kitan Oyesiku and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo.

Speaking at the police command headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, on Thursday, Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni said investigations had made major progress, leading to the arrest of the three suspects.

He said forensic checks on a handwritten note and technical tracking helped detectives identify and arrest the suspects.

According to the CP, the main suspect, a former security guard to Oyesiku, recruited two others to carry out the attack. He confessed to taking part in the killings, claiming he wanted to teach the deceased a lesson.

Ojajuni praised members of the public for supporting the investigation that led to the arrests.

He said the case was first reported at Owode Egba Police Station after suspicious activities were noticed at the deceased’s home.

“Preliminary findings showed that the front door of the residence had been partially damaged, while the security post within the compound was locked.

“Detectives who gained access to the premises found the lifeless body of the security guard, inside the security house. The body of the late broadcaster was discovered in a pool of blood in the living room of the main building.

“Investigators also discovered that the deceased’s Lexus RX 330 vehicle was missing, raising suspicion of robbery and murder. The command subsequently launched an intensive intelligence gathering and technical tracking operations to identify those responsible and recovered the vehicle.

“The missing vehicle was later traced and recovered on Monday through credible intelligence and technical analysis. The breakthrough came after investigators linked the abandoned vehicle to the vicinity of the principal suspect’s residence.”

The police boss said the main suspect allegedly killed the security guard to remove a witness who could expose him. He added that the suspect admitted carrying out the crime with the two others.

Ojajuni said the suspect complained that his salary was too low while working for the deceased and often demanded money from her after leaving the job.

He said investigations are still ongoing to strengthen the case and ensure everyone connected to the crime is prosecuted. He also reaffirmed the command’s commitment to getting justice for the victims and their families.

The police had on Sunday launched an investigation into the deaths of Oyesiku and her security guard at Iyana Agodo Village, Kobape, Abeokuta.
