Fresh documents show the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation approved Adeniyi Adeyemi — the man the Presidency now calls a disowned, non-existent Director‑General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) — to attend the Canada‑Africa Fintech Summit (CAFS) in August 2025.
The Presidency claims Adeyemi “concocted letters and claims,” says the council never existed, and has asked the DSS, police and EFCC to find and prosecute anyone who helped him. But Vanguard obtained an SGF office memo, signed by Permanent Secretary Engr. Nadungu Gagare, inviting Adeyemi to join the Nigerian delegation to Canada from August 3rd to 8th, 2025, and urging him “to register and involve other stakeholders in the programme.”
The row has fueled a nasty spat linking Adeyemi and the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.
Former Vice‑President Atiku Abubakar piled on, saying: “Nigeria has sadly arrived at that point. The issue is no longer one scandal or another. The issue is the pattern. And when scandals become a pattern of governance, the inevitable conclusion is this: you are no longer managing scandals; you have become the scandal itself.”
The PDP demanded an independent forensic probe and warned the Presidency “cannot escape accountability” over claims involving Gbajabiamila, while SERAP has asked Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker Tajudeen Abbas to publish certified documents on the N1.3 billion PFIPC allocation in the 2026 Appropriation Act — and says it will sue if they don’t comply within seven days.
