Prominent businessman and socialite, Obi Iyiegbu, widely known as Obi Cubana, has confirmed his appointment as the South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement. The appointment followed the presentation of his official letter by Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.
Iyiegbu announced the appointment in a post on his verified Instagram page on Tuesday. He revealed that Seyi Tinubu visited his home on Monday night to formally present the certificate of appointment.
“Last night, my long-time friend and brother, Seyi Tinubu, paid me a visit at my home. We held great conversations about everything,” he wrote.
The Anambra-born businessman added that the meeting also created room for discussions on matters affecting the nation.
Addressing the mixed reactions from the public over his new position, Iyiegbu explained that his decision was driven by his belief that real change comes from active involvement.
“I’m fully aware of the varied reactions it has sparked. My belief remains firm: lasting change comes from constructive engagement, not standing apart,” he said.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to the movement, noting that meaningful influence cannot be achieved from the sidelines.
“I’ve learned that influence is limited from the outside — so yes, here we are! I am a City Boy through and through, inside and out,” he added.
Iyiegbu further assured Nigerians that the role would not affect his personal values, community service, or leadership ideals.

He described President Bola Tinubu as “a City Boy and a man of commerce,” adding that inclusiveness would be a major focus of his assignment.
“All of us need all of us in order to achieve our national aspirations, and I am committed to carrying every Nigerian along in all that I do,” Iyiegbu stated.
He also appealed for tolerance and respect among citizens, encouraging Nigerians to focus on national growth.
“Let’s respect differing views, keep conversations vibrant, and stay focused on building real value. The moment is now — we move!” he said.
Iyiegbu concluded by appreciating his supporters for their goodwill and reaffirmed his dedication to working toward a more inclusive future.
