Oyo State governor Seyi Makinde has announced he will contest the 2027 presidency under the alliance of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
Makinde made the declaration at an event held immediately after the signing of an agreement between the PDP and APM. Under the pact, candidates from the crisis-ridden PDP will run on the APM platform in the 2027 election.
Saying the deal disproves those who believed the opposition would not field candidates in 2027, Makinde called on opposition members to unite and work together ahead of the polls. He affirmed that the PDP/APM grand alliance will present candidates for all positions in the election.
“I, Seyi Makinde hereby announce my candidacy for presidency of Nigeria under the PDP/APM Alliance in 2027,” he said, adding that his ambition is geared toward the rebirth of the nation.
