2027: Supporters Push for Obi-Kwankwaso Presidential Ticket

Supporters of Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), have proposed a joint presidential ticket with former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, in a move set to influence Nigeria’s 2027 election race.

Speaking for Kwankwaso’s support groups in Kano, Abba Sadauki Gwale said they felt compelled to urge Nigerians to back an Obi-Kwankwaso alliance, describing it as a chance to rescue the country from its ongoing challenges.

“We, as Kwankwaso supporters and loyalists, have proposed and thrown our weight behind this joint presidential ticket, especially with Peter Obi, in any of the political parties. The current political trajectory has shown where the tide is shifting.

“If the duo gets a chance in the upcoming election, Nigeria will be a better place. We’re tired of insecurity, hunger, and starvation.

“We want a political alliance to unite Obi’s strong support base in the south with Kwankwaso’s formidable following in the north, creating a coalition capable of shaking up the political landscape. With this partnership, the duo is poised to challenge the ruling party seriously.

“At the core of this alliance is a shared ambition to wrest power from Bola Tinubu and bring meaningful change to Nigeria. Both Obi and Kwankwaso have consistently emphasised their commitment to helping the common man, and their partnership is seen as a crucial step towards this goal,” he added.

Sadauki Gwale, from the same constituency as Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, explained that the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket would leverage popular dissatisfaction with the current administration, and their message of hope and change is resonating widely across Nigeria.

“With their combined strength, they are emerging as a formidable challenger to the ruling party. As 2027 approaches, all eyes are on the Obi-Kwankwaso alliance to see how they will convert this momentum into votes. One thing is certain – the duo is determined to bring a new era of politics to Nigeria,” Gwale said.

Addressing claims that Kwankwaso is demanding significant positions from the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a condition for joining, Gwale said such requests should not be seen as unreasonable given the former Governor’s stature.

According to him, Kwankwaso has made demands that would meet the needs of his supporters and party members across the 36 states and Abuja. He noted that Kwankwaso’s influence extends across societal divides, especially among ordinary Nigerians struggling to make ends meet.

On Kwankwaso’s recent political events in Kano State, Gwale said no other politician draws crowds as large as Kwankwaso’s, even after his political godson, Abba Yusuf, defected to the APC.
