Nnamdi Kanu directs full cancellation of Monday Sit-at-Home in South-East – IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has officially ended the Monday sit-at-home order across the South-East, effective Monday, February 9, 2026.

The decision comes directly from IPOB leader Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who urged residents to return to schools, workplaces, and markets without fear or intimidation.

IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, warned that any attempt to enforce the sit-at-home from now on would be seen as defiance of Kanu’s orders and an act against the Biafran cause.

“All markets, schools, offices, transport services, and economic activities must resume fully and normally from tomorrow. The era of Monday sit-at-home is over,” the statement said.

The group cautioned citizens about possible false-flag operations or attempts to intimidate them, urging people to stay alert, calm, and law-abiding. IPOB also clarified that no state governor can threaten or forcibly close businesses of traders who choose to act at their discretion.

The statement emphasized that any market renovations or relocations must have the consent of stakeholders, with temporary trading sites provided before work begins. IPOB called on all residents in the South-East to resume daily activities and ensure children return to school, reinforcing unity and the organization’s commitment to freedom, dignity, and justice.

This announcement signals a major change in IPOB’s policies, ending a long-standing weekly shutdown that has affected economic and social life in the region.
