Christian ‘Genocide’: Tinubu Urges Trump to Launch More U.S. Military Strikes in Northern Nigeria; Calls Christmas Day Bombing a ‘Blessing’

Remi Tinubu, Nigeria’s first lady, has urged the United States to carry out more military strikes against terrorists and bandits in northern Nigeria.

She praised the Christmas Day attacks ordered by President Donald Trump, calling them a blessing for the West African nation.

“Nigeria is looking forward to collaboration….We are expecting that there will be more,” Mrs Tinubu said during an interview with Fox News on Friday while visiting the U.S.

When asked about America’s Christmas Day strike on terrorists in Sokoto, she described it as, “quite a blessing.”

Mrs Tinubu had joined President Trump at the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday.

During the event, Mr Trump praised her, months after President Bola Tinubu’s administration spent millions of dollars on Republican lobbyists in Washington to improve his reputation, following Mr Trump’s 2025 comments calling Nigeria “a disgrace” under his leadership.

In January, President Trump warned that airstrikes in northern Nigeria would continue as long as terrorists and bandits kept killing Christians.

“I’d love to make it a one-time strike,” he said. “But if they continue to kill Christians, it will be a many-time strike.”

On Christmas Day, Mr Trump announced that, under his direction, the U.S. military had conducted airstrikes against terrorist targets in northern Nigeria, marking America’s first direct military action in the country.

“Tonight, at my direction as Commander in Chief, the United States launched a powerful and deadly strike against ISIS Terrorist Scum in North-West Nigeria, who have been targeting and viciously killing, primarily, innocent Christians, at levels not seen for many years, and even centuries!” Mr Trump stated on Truth Social late Thursday.

The announcement followed reports that the U.S. had been carrying out intelligence flights over Nigerian airspace since November, after Mr Trump threatened a military intervention to stop the killings of Christians by terrorists.

“I have previously warned these terrorists that if they did not stop the slaughtering of Christians, there would be hell to pay, and tonight, there was. The Department of War executed numerous perfect strikes, as only the United States is capable of doing. Under my leadership, our Country will not allow Radical Islamic Terrorism to prosper,” he added.
