Tuchel Finally Names 3 Outstanding Players Who Kept Palmer Out of England’s World Cup Squad

England boss Thomas Tuchel says three outstanding players kept Chelsea’s Cole Palmer out of his 2026 FIFA World Cup squad.

Tuchel recently named his squad for this year’s World Cup tournament starting next month. Palmer was among the players who did not make the Three Lions’ squad.

Tuchel suggested Jude Bellingham, Eberechi Eze and Morgan Rogers had better seasons than Palmer and that all four compete in the same position — which trimmed Palmer’s chances.

“Cole Palmer wasn’t as decisive as previous seasons, he wasn’t available for us a lot,” Tuchel said as quoted by Fabrizio Romano while explaining Palmer’s omission from England’s World Cup squad.

“ He also competes in the right half 10 position, where we decided for Jude, Morgan and Ebs, who are outstanding players, had better seasons and were more decisive in our camps than Cole”.

So, no spot for Palmer this time. Tough break for the 24-year-old, but Tuchel made it clear the others edged him on form and availability.
