BREAKING: INEC Sets Date For 2027 Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially released the timetable for Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.

The commission announced that the Presidential and National Assembly polls will take place on February 20, 2027, while the Governorship and State Assembly elections are set for March 6.

Prof. Joash Amupitan, INEC’s chairman, made this known at a press briefing in Abuja on Friday.

On February 4, INEC had revealed that although the amended Electoral Act is still pending in the National Assembly, the commission has completed the election timetable and activity schedule.

While INEC said it had submitted all necessary documents to lawmakers, it admitted that some activities in the schedule might be affected depending on when the National Assembly passes the Electoral Act.
