Eid-El-Adha: FG Urges Nigerians To Uphold Unity, Sacrifice, Pray For Nation

The Federal Government sent warm Eid al-Adha greetings to Muslim faithful in Nigeria and worldwide, urging everyone to live out the festival’s lessons of sacrifice, compassion and unity.

In a Wednesday statement, Information Minister Mohammed Idris called the holiday a sacred time that mirrors Prophet Ibrahim’s faith and obedience. He urged Nigerians to use the occasion to deepen national unity and peaceful coexistence across ethnic, religious and political lines.

“Eid al-Adha is a season that calls for reflection, unity, tolerance, and renewed commitment to the values that bind us together as one nation,” Idris stated.

He also asked citizens to keep praying for Nigeria’s peace, stability and progress, and reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s push on the Renewed Hope Agenda. According to him, the Tinubu administration remains focused on building “a more secure, prosperous, and inclusive Nigeria for all Nigerians.”

Idris appealed that people remember the less privileged during the celebrations by showing kindness and support to the vulnerable. “I encourage Nigerians to use this period to extend love and support to the less privileged, promote peaceful coexistence, and strengthen the spirit of national unity,” he said.

He expressed hope that Eid’s blessings bring peace, joy and prosperity to homes across the country, and prayed that Allah accepts the faithful’s prayers and sacrifices. Millions of Muslims in Nigeria now prepare for the prayers, charity and sacrifice that mark the festival.
