Did Tinubu Secretly Convert to Christianity? Presidency Finally Breaks Silence

Olusegun Dada, President Bola Tinubu’s special assistant on social media, took to his verified X on May 28 to call a viral video “fake”. The clip — an 8-minute TikTok post from @internetsecrets2 — claimed Tinubu had dumped Islam for Christianity.

Dada was blunt: “Please disregard the video circulating claiming PBAT has converted. It is a lie… President Tinubu has always been a Muslim, while proudly supporting his wife, who is a Pastor. This unique interfaith harmony in his own home is what he brings to national leadership, which is unity and not conversion.”

Dada stressed that Tinubu proudly supports his wife, Senator Remi Tinubu, an ordained pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

The claim popped up as politicians gear up for the 2027 elections — and fake political content is worrying many Nigerians. Some AI-made videos now mimic voices so well they trick viewers. INEC even set up an AI Division in May 2025 to try to curb the harm, but the spread of deepfakes remains a headache.

A reminder of Mrs Tinubu’s profile: in February 2026, US President Donald Trump praised her at the National Prayer Breakfast: “We’re honoured to be joined today by the First Lady of Nigeria, who also happens to serve as a Christian pastor at the largest church in Nigeria. A very respected woman. First Lady, please, where are you? Thank you very much. It’s a great honour.”

Tinubu himself has urged Nigerians to put unity above religion, speaking at a funeral in Jos, Plateau state.
