TikTok user Mirabel has taken back her earlier rape allegation, admitting that it was not true and saying sorry to Nigerians for deceiving the public.
She said, “Nigerians please forgive me. I am sorry. I am tired,” admitting that she made up the story and even opened a fake account to back up her claim.
She also revealed that she personally created the TikTok page to make the allegation look real. The confession has since caused serious reactions across social media.
Mirabel said she has been dealing with deep emotional pain and explained that she is passing through a very hard time in her life.
Speaking to VeryDarkMan (VDM), she said she recently lost her father, mother and brother. She described herself as an orphan who is struggling with heavy grief and loneliness, with no close family support.
She further admitted that she is facing serious mental health challenges and had been using drugs, adding that she could have been hallucinating.
The situation has divided public opinion. While some Nigerians are angry about the false claim, others have asked people to show understanding because of her emotional condition.
Some advocates have warned that false accusations carry grave consequences. They also stressed the need to take mental health seriously and ensure people in distress can get professional help.
Many observers say the incident has again raised concerns about how social media is used, the danger of spreading false information, and the urgent need for better and more accessible mental health care services in Nigeria.
