Brazilian psychic Michael Bruno believes Portugal will win the 2026 World Cup.
Bruno, who describes himself as a psychic, has a strong record with his predictions. He correctly picked Spain in 2010, Germany in 2014 and France in 2018. However, his streak ended in 2022 when he backed France to defend their title, only for Argentina to win on penalties.
Speaking to Globo Esporte, Bruno stood by his prediction for the next tournament and claimed defending champions Argentina will not make it past the quarter-finals.
“Since 2022, I’ve been announcing the next champion team. Since then, I’ve been stating that Portugal will be the world champion.”
He also questioned Neymar’s readiness for the tournament and suggested his involvement could affect Brazil’s chances.
“I don’t think Neymar is 100% ready to play in this World Cup. And if he plays, once again, the national team will be eliminated before the semi-finals, because the team will revolve around him, repeating the tactical mistake of 2022.”
Meanwhile, Manchester City defender Rúben Dias has spoken positively about Portugal’s chances. He described the World Cup as a special competition and praised the squad’s ability to handle pressure.
“Also, we have a lot of players playing at the best level of football, that comes with dealing with the pressure, knowing what that pressure feels like.”
Despite Bruno’s prediction, Opta’s supercomputer ranks Spain as the favourite for the 2026 World Cup, ahead of France, England, Argentina and Portugal.
The tournament will be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
