Attempt to Poison Tinubu: Presidency Responds

The Presidency on Sunday dismissed a viral video claiming that a chef working at the Presidential Villa was arrested for allegedly trying to poison President Bola Tinubu, calling the report false.

The video, which circulated widely on social media over the weekend, suggested that security operatives had detained a member of the presidential kitchen staff after receiving intelligence about suspicious activities connected to food preparation in restricted areas of the Villa.

It also claimed that a special police unit was deployed, resulting in heightened security around the presidential premises.

The report said the arrest was due to what it described as credible threats to the President’s safety, prompting a coordinated investigation by security personnel responsible for protecting the nation’s leadership.

According to the video, the unnamed kitchen staff member was taken into custody for questioning while authorities examined evidence related to the alleged poisoning attempt.

However, the Presidency has denied these claims.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, called the video “fake news,” stressing that the story was entirely made up and should be ignored.  “No Aso Rock kitchen staff arrested. No Aso Rock kitchen staff attempted to poison President Tinubu. Please ignore this fake news being disseminated by this video.”

He advised Nigerians to follow official sources for accurate information and cautioned against spreading unverified reports that could cause unnecessary fear.
