Victor Osimhen’s name won’t stop popping up in transfer rumours — and Turkish pundit Ahmet Cakar thinks Galatasaray should be very worried if he leaves.
Osimhen arrived on loan in summer 2024, made the move permanent a year later, and has been the club’s talisman. He helped Galatasaray to two Turkish Super League titles in his two seasons. In his first season he scored 37 goals and had eight assists. The second season saw him drop to 22 goals and eight assists in 31 matches because of injuries and AFCON 2025, but interest in him never cooled.
Big clubs linked to him include Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United. Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle caused a stir by suggesting Osimhen’s absence from the national team was linked to a transfer move; Osimhen issued a statement saying his manager’s words were taken out of context.
Cakar warns Galatasaray not to sell. “If Osimhen leaves, Galatasaray will face major problems because Osimhen represents 70% of the team. Icardi is already finished. Where are you going to find two strikers at once? It will create a psychological crisis,” he said, as quoted by GS Gazete.
Mauro Icardi is expected to leave this summer after failing to agree a new deal. According to Yenicag Gazetesi, Galatasaray have already paid Napoli in full — an initial €40m plus instalments — for Osimhen.
Rumours say they would demand about €140m to sell him.
