Dangote Refinery Raises Petrol Price To N874/litre

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has raised its ex-gantry petrol price to N874 per litre.

Sources at the refinery said the price jumped by N100, up from N774 per litre to the new N874.

“The refinery increased its ex-gantry petrol price to N874 per litre,” a source confirmed.

This increase comes as global oil prices keep climbing, with Brent crude hitting $79 per barrel, driven by rising tensions in the Middle East affecting the oil and gas market.

QatarEnergy, the state-owned energy company of Qatar, said it stopped producing liquefied natural gas (LNG) after Iranian military attacks hit its facilities.

Saudi Aramco, Saudi Arabia’s state-owned oil company, also shut down its Ras Tanura refinery after debris from an Iranian drone attack caused a fire at the plant.

On Sunday, leading container shipping companies paused sailings through the Strait of Hormuz and the Suez Canal due to growing security risks in the region.

US-Israeli strikes on Iranian targets reportedly killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader, and Abdolrahim Mousavi, the country’s armed forces chief of staff.

In retaliation, Iran has launched multiple missile attacks across the region, raising fears of dragging neighbouring countries into the widening conflict.
