A morning football session in Jos North ended in shock when Salisu Muhammed collapsed and died on the pitch.
Muhammed, known as Achilata, was training at the Massalacin Edi football field in the Alikazaure community of Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State, in the early hours of Monday when he suddenly slumped. The incident stopped the session and left teammates and residents mourning.
His teammate Abba Abdullahi told Daily Trust: “It was a shocking death. He was playing football when he suddenly slumped. He was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.”
Friends, colleagues and sympathisers who attended his funeral called Muhammed humble, tolerant and respectful. Many prayed for Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Jannatul Firdaus. A resident of Anguwan Rogo, he is survived by his parents, wife and four children. He was buried at Babale Cemetery in Jos according to Islamic rites.
