The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has relieved ACP Benjamin Hundeyin of his duties as Force Public Relations Officer, exactly six months after he took up the role.
It was learnt that the approval for Hundeyin’s removal was given on Thursday, March 5, 2025.
This move comes amid a series of reshuffles and changes within the police leadership, happening just 24 hours after IGP Tunji Disu was sworn in as the substantive Inspector-General of Police by President Bola Tinubu.
Disu became the 23rd Inspector-General last week, following the removal of Kayode Egbetokun, who had led the Force since 2023.
According to THE WHISTLER’s findings, Hundeyin was officially removed from his post on Thursday morning.
It is not yet clear who will replace him as the Force Public Relations Officer.
“We don’t know who will take over from him, although we thought he would last longer considering his expertise.
“However when a new IGP is appointed, it is not news that some positions would be vacant, unfortunately, he was affected.” source said.
ACP Hundeyin, who hails from Badagry, was appointed Force Public Relations Officer by the former Inspector-General of Police.
An alumnus of Lagos State University, Hundeyin holds a BA (Hons) in English Language and an MSc in Legal Criminology & Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan.
He also earned a Certificate in Civil-Military Coordination from the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Training Centre in Jaji, Kaduna.
His professional memberships include the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), the International Public Relations Association (IPRA), and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM).
Hundeyin’s career highlights include serving as Police Public Relations Officer at Zone 2 Command Headquarters in Onikan, Lagos, and participating in the United Nations–African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) in 2020.
