2027: Sunday Igboho Backs Tinubu, Sends Strong Warning to Opposition

Popular Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly called Sunday Igboho, has warned former presidential hopefuls, Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, against holding campaign activities in the South-West ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a video that went viral online on Sunday, Adeyemo threatened to disrupt any support for the two politicians if they attempt to campaign in Yorubaland.

“No more useless Atiku or Obi in Yorubaland,” the activist said. “If you know that you are crazy, campaign for one Atiku or Obi in Yoruba region.”

Adeyemo, who has pledged full backing for President Bola Tinubu in the South-West even after 2027, also vowed to push for a third term for Tinubu.

“Tinubu for second term; beyond 2027. 100 per cent. After eight years of Asiwaju, we’ll pray for extra years. Throughout Lagos and Yorubaland, it’s for Asiwaju. We will all vote for him,” he added.

His warning against opposition politicians in Yorubaland comes barely two months after he returned to Nigeria from exile on January 26, 2026, following the removal of his name from the federal government’s wanted list.

Adeyemo’s return followed appeals by notable traditional rulers and Nigerians, including the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja; the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; and the Olugbon of Orile Igbon, Oba Francis Alao, who petitioned President Tinubu on his behalf.

The Yoruba Nation agitator had fled Nigeria on July 1, 2021, after security operatives from the State Security Services and the Nigerian Army raided his Ibadan, Oyo State, home over allegations of stockpiling arms and ammunition.

The raid happened as Adeyemo campaigned strongly against armed Fulani herdsmen occupying forests in the South-West, who were reportedly killing and abducting local farmers.

Under the administration of the late President Muhammadu Buhari, Adeyemo was declared wanted, denied a Nigerian passport, and had his bank accounts frozen, even though courts had ruled in his favour.
