Singer and producer Crayon has publicly accused Don Jazzy, Rema, and Mavin Records of wrongdoing in a series of shocking posts on social media.
Nigerian Afropop artist Crayon, whose real name is Charles Chibueze Chukwu, set social media ablaze with explosive posts on X (formerly Twitter), targeting Don Jazzy, Rema, and others. This has become one of the most dramatic public conflicts between an artist and Mavin Records in recent years.
The 28-year-old Lagos-born singer, who came up through Mavin’s talent pipeline before signing officially with Blowtime Entertainment, an imprint linked to Mavin, in 2019, posted a series of emotional and cryptic tweets aimed at the label’s founder Don Jazzy, COO Tega Oghenejobo, and fellow star Rema.
Crayon started his posts with a mix of affection and aggression, tweeting, “Don jazzy na my boy!!!!!! Una dey maddddd!!?? Shayennnnn sharayyyyyy333,” before turning on the COO, calling Oghenejobo “Tega highest criminal!!!!!!!!!” He then went after the label itself, declaring “Mavin is going down!!!!!!” and targeted Rema with, “Rema for the next 100 years no feature. You stole my star from me. Yeah I took tha shiiiiii backkkkk hoeeeeerrrr!!!!! Snakkkkkkkeeeeeesssssssss.” In another post, he compared himself to his labelmate: “I’m HYM!!!! Not REMA!!!! Niggaaaaa I’m 69 in Africa!!!!!!!.”

The sudden outburst did not come out of nowhere. Fans noticed that Crayon’s recent music release seemed to receive less support from Mavin’s usual promotional channels, sparking rumors that he might be moving towards independence or even leaving the label. Observers also pointed out that he has been less active publicly since his mother passed away last year, suggesting that grief and career pressures may be influencing him.
The timing of the tweets also aligns with what looks like a career shift. Crayon released his latest single, “Baami,” not under Mavin Records, but through a new outfit called “Olodum Ent.”
Produced by his regular collaborator Ozedikus, the single came without Mavin’s usual branding or promotion. Crayon also invited creative contributions for his new label, tweeting: “Any weird creatives that can come with OLODUM ENT FLAGGSSSSS!!!! Gets 500 million naira cash !!!!! With love WARAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!”
