Ekiti Governor Biodun Oyebanji called his re-election win a clear vote of confidence from the people of the state.
The Independent National Electoral Commission declared Mr. Oyebanji winner after he polled 319,224 votes. He beat the Peoples Democratic Party’s Oluwole Oluyede, who scored 40,543, and the African Democratic Congress’s Oludare Bejide, who finished third with 12,872.
Reacting after the result on Sunday, Mr. Oyebanji said he was pleased to have secured 85% of the total votes cast.
“The voice of the people has reverberated from every part of our great state, and the message is clear,” the governor stated. “I am deeply humbled by the scale of this victory. Securing a clean sweep across all 16 local government areas, and 85% of the popular vote is a humbling vote of confidence from Ekiti Kete.”
He called the mandate both an honour and a challenge.
“From our urban centers to our most remote communities, you have spoken with one thunderous voice for continuous development, stability, and a future of endless opportunities.
“This mandate means that our work must touch every household even deeper. There are no winners or losers today, there is only one united Ekiti determined to continue its journey of upward mobility,” he added.
Mr Oyebanji vowed to honour the trust placed in him and to keep leading with humility, dedication and fairness.
