Bauchi Gov Inaugurates 2,187 Forest Guards To Tackle Insecurity

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has charged 2,187 newly inducted Forest Guards to respect human rights and to act with professionalism as they begin their security duties.

He spoke at the passing-out parade held at the police training school in Yelwa, Bauchi Local Government Area. The governor was represented at the event by his deputy, Rt. Honourable Auwal Jatau.

In his welcome address the governor greeted representatives of all the state’s security agencies. He stressed the importance of the programme and urged the graduands to be good ambassadors in everything they do.

Governor Mohammed said the initiative is part of peace-building. He described it as a symbol of integrity and discipline, and charged the guards to observe the rules of engagement so the objectives of the Forest Guard Corps can be met. He also warned that the government will not tolerate any unlawful acts and called on the guards to promote environmental sustainability and security across the state.

Umar Shayi, Commander General of the Bauchi State Vigilante and Youth Empowerment Agency, praised the governor’s efforts and his passion for developing local security outfits. Shayi encouraged the graduands to remain committed and dedicated in the discharge of their duties.
