UPDATED: Top 10 All-Time Goalscorers in FIFA World Cup History

Lionel Messi has added another chapter to his legend.

The 38-year-old Argentina captain became the FIFA World Cup’s all-time leading scorer on Monday, scoring twice against Austria to take his tally to 18 goals and move past Germany’s Miroslav Klose, who finished with 16.

Messi had already matched Klose’s record after his hat-trick against Algeria in Argentina’s opening match at the FIFA 2026 World Cup. His latest goals now leave him alone at the top of the scoring charts.
