The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of 632,788 candidates who took part in the first day of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Many observers say this is one of the quickest result releases the board has ever made.
The board confirmed on Friday night that candidates who sat for the exam on Thursday, April 16, can now access their scores.
In a post on his X account, JAMB spokesperson, Dr Fabian Benjamin, explained that candidates should send “UTMERESULT” via SMS to either 55019 or 66019, using the same phone number they registered with.
He also noted that at this stage, candidates can only view their results, while printing of result slips will be made available later.
“The results of candidates who sat the 2026 UTME on Thursday, 16 April 2026, have been released and are now available for viewing.
“To check their results, candidates should send UTMERESULT via SMS to 55019 or 66019, using the same phone number used during registration.
“At this stage, candidates may view their results only; printing is not yet available,” the statement said.
The 2026 UTME, which began on April 16, is set to run across the country until April 22 at different examination centres.
JAMB also gave a strong warning against any form of result falsification or manipulation, stressing that altering official result messages is a criminal offence.
The board further revealed that it has arrested two candidates and one parent for allegedly using artificial intelligence and other electronic tools to fake UTME results.
Benjamin warned that anyone caught in exam malpractice or result manipulation will face prosecution and the full force of the law.
He added that the board will continue to release results in batches as the nationwide examination continues.
