Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo has said his choice to play international football for Ghana was “easy”, despite having other options.
The 26-year-old, who could have played for England or France, instead chose to represent the Black Stars and officially made the commitment in 2022.
Speaking on The Mixer podcast, Semenyo explained that he never seriously weighed up other countries before deciding.
He said the call from Ghana came when he was still young and the opportunity was too clear to turn down.
“I was 20, 21 when Ghana came calling. I couldn’t say no to playing for the first team, so it was an easy choice,” Semenyo explained.
He also made it clear that the decision did not involve much stress or confusion at all.
“No, it was never a hard decision. I wasn’t even in England’s top ranking like that anyway.”
