JUST IN: Obi, Kwankwaso Form Alliance Ahead of 2027 Polls

The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement has said that Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso have reached an agreement to work together ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

This was made known on Thursday by the group’s National Publicity Secretary, Justin Ijeh, during a chat on Arise TV’s Prime Time.

Ijeh explained that the alliance is both a political strategy and a reform-focused coalition operating within the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

He said the arrangement brings together the Obedient Movement and the Kwankwasiyya political structure, with the goal of building strong grassroots support across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

According to him, both leaders have agreed in principle to cooperate, but talks are still ongoing on how their joint ticket will be structured.

“What is central is that both principals have agreed to work together. The specifics of who leads or deputises will be communicated by them at the appropriate time,” he said.

The coming together of the OK Movement is happening as political activities rise within the ADC, where other key figures like Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi, and Aminu Waziri Tambuwal are also seeking the party’s presidential ticket.

Ijeh stressed that the movement is not meant to shut out other contenders, but to support what it sees as a strong option for the opposition.

He also said the group’s focus is on governance reforms, economic inclusion, and people-centered policies, adding that politics should move beyond ethnic or identity lines.

On fears of internal disagreement, he said he is confident the party will manage its process well.

“The expectation is that whoever emerges will enjoy the support of others. That is the spirit of coalition,” he said.
