A young woman who was kidnapped in Kasuwan Magani, in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has finally regained her freedom after about five months in captivity.
Sadly, after doctors examined her, it was confirmed that she is pregnant.
This shocking update was shared by Mr Reuben Buhari, a former media aide to the late Kaduna State Governor, Patrick Yakowa, in a post on his verified Facebook page.
Buhari explained that the young woman was one of four people taken when armed men stormed a house where she had been looking after her very sick mother. The gunmen reportedly dragged them into the bush, where they were kept for months in very harsh conditions until a ransom was eventually paid.
He said once she was released, she was rushed straight to the hospital because she was extremely weak and needed urgent care.
According to Buhari, doctors later confirmed her pregnancy, which is believed to be a result of the abuse she went through while in captivity.
He added that she arrived at the hospital in a very fragile state and had to be stabilised first, including receiving a blood transfusion, before any further treatment could begin.
He described the entire experience as deeply traumatic, noting that many of the things victims go through in such situations are often too painful to fully talk about.
This case has once again raised serious concerns about growing insecurity and the increasing number of kidnappings in parts of Kaduna State, especially in the southern areas.
