Security operatives have arrested a 15-year-old herder after cattle destroyed a farmland in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Sources told security analyst Zagazola Makama the incident happened at about 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, after a distress report that cattle had invaded and destroyed a farm belonging to one Benjamin Pam at Rakwok village.
Personnel from Sub‑Sector 41, Gashish, raced to the scene but found the herders had fled with their cattle when they saw the security team. A pursuit followed, and one of the herders, identified as Muhammadu Bashir, 15, was arrested.
Bashir is now in custody as the relevant authorities begin the necessary legal and administrative procedures. Security sources said efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other herders who escaped the scene.
