2027 Race Heats Up as Obi, Kwankwaso Join NDC

After weeks of guessing and quiet talks about where they would land politically, Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso have finally made their move. Both men have now joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Obi, who flew the Labour Party flag in the 2023 presidential race, and Kwankwaso, the New Nigeria Peoples Party candidate in the same election, made this decision during a visit to the home of Seriake Dickson, the National Leader of the NDC.

They got there around 5:14 p.m. and quickly went into talks with Dickson and other key figures in the party. The discussions were part of ongoing political moves behind the scenes.

Soon after, the meeting shifted into a closed-door session. It wrapped up at about 6:45 p.m., keeping details away from the public.

Speaking after the meeting, Kwankwaso urged his supporters and political allies to throw their weight behind the NDC. He also called for more people to get involved with the party.

Obi, on his side, reportedly warned party members not to rush to court over issues. Instead, he advised them to settle disagreements within the party.

This move is being seen as a big win for the NDC. Both Obi and Kwankwaso have strong support at the grassroots level across different parts of the country, which could give the party a serious boost going forward.
