VIDEO: Toyin Abraham Responds After Bovi Turned Her and Funke Akindele’s Fight into AMVCA Skit

Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham confronted comedian Bovi after he and co-host Nomzamo Mbatha recreated a now-famous moment between Abraham and colleague Funke Akindele on the AMVCA stage.

At the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, Mbatha played Akindele while Bovi impersonated Abraham in a skit that referenced the encounter at Iyabo Ojo’s movie premiere. During the bit Bovi quipped, “Aunty, aunty Funke… mtcheeww. If I ever present an award to you, call me a bastarrd,” a line that drew laughter from the audience.

A clip that circulated after the show captures Toyin, who attended the ceremony, speaking with Bovi about the routine. She told him she expected the joke and admitted she found it funny.

The exchange resurfaced attention on the original premiere incident, which sparked heated discussion online. In the footage from that night, Abraham appears to greet Akindele by touching her arm and leaning in, but Akindele keeps a straight gaze and does not visibly respond. Abraham then moves on to greet other guests; at one point her outfit brushes Akindele’s hair and Akindele adjusts it without acknowledging Abraham. A second attempt by Abraham also fails to elicit a reaction.

The premiere moment trended for days amid speculation that the long-running tension between the two actresses remains unresolved.
