“She’s Pro-Tinubu” — Nigerians Blast Tiwa Savage Over Her Comments on Oyo School Kidnapping

Nigerian star Tiwa Savage is getting heat after a short video about the recent Oyo State school kidnapping. Weeks ago children were taken from their school, a teacher died and a violent video of the attack surfaced online.

Tiwa reacted almost two weeks later, saying she only learned about it when she saw Spyro’s post. She told viewers she tried to get the background because it wasn’t trending, then saw KieKie’s post and realised the incident had happened about two weeks earlier. In the clip the mother of one shakes her head, holds it in her hand and bows her head.

She said: “The kidnapping that happened in Oyo State, it was just yesterday that Spyro was speaking about it, that I heard about it. I tried to reach out to some people to know the background story because it was not trending. I saw KieKie’s post, and she said it was almost two weeks ago.”

Fans didn’t hold back. Many dragged her online, calling her pro-Tinubu and accusing her of being slow to react. Some joked she deserved awards for the performance. They criticised her for not knowing sooner and for saying little after she did.

Here are reactions shared online:
