Fresh Trouble for Tinted Vehicle Owners as Government Enforces New Rules

The FCT Police Command has begun enforcing the ban on tinted glass, and they’ve already impounded more than 30 vehicles. Those cars were also taken for obscured number plates and improper registration.

FCT Commissioner of Police Ahmed Sanusi said the operation targets a worrying trend: criminals using such vehicles to carry out one-chance robberies, kidnappings and other violent crimes in the territory.

According to Sanusi, Inspector‑General of Police Olatunji Disu gave the command the green light to act.

He said: “The IG has given us the mandate to begin the enforcement of the ban on the use of tinted vehicles and other offences as earlier stated.

“Intelligence reports at the disposal of the command indicate that many criminal elements deliberately use such vehicles to conceal their identities, evade detection, and frustrate law enforcement efforts. This poses a serious threat to public safety.”
