Nigerian comedian Bovi turned Father’s Day into a love note for his wife.
Posting photos of the two of them, he asked how he would cope with their children without her. He called the kids “crázy restless Gen z and alpha children” who stare him down and answer “no” when he asks a rhetorical question. He also thanked his wife for “dividing my job into 2.”
“Happy Father’s Day to ME and us because without you, where will I start from with those crázy restless Gen z and alpha children who look me right back in the eyes and answer me “no” when I ask “are you stupíd” simply because they don’t know that it’s a rhetorical question and part of a system meant to assert my authority? Thank you for dividing my job into 2 @krisasimonye”.
In a recent interview with Morayo Afolabi, Bovi said he celebrates when people get divorced because it can mean one or both were not breathing well in the marriage. He admitted his own marriage hasn’t been easy, but said he would never make life difficult for anyone, and he wouldn’t want anyone to make life difficult for him.
Last year Bovi and Kris Asimonye marked their 16th wedding anniversary with family photos. He said that when they get bored they will make new kids. A day before that anniversary he celebrated Kris’s birthday, calling her his biggest win since inception, the love of his life and “the tree that shades me from the sun.”
Bovi married Kris Asimonye Ugboma in 2009. He has said staying married is partly luck, that there is no perfect marriage, and that perfection comes from loving imperfections. He once said he always knew he would marry a fine woman similar to his mother, never planned to have three children but is now blessed with three. In 2023 the couple renewed their vows on water, with mariners officiating — a video that earned them the nickname Mr and Mrs Mariners.
